Building better matches: Setting and managing expectations between au pairs and host families

Friday, 20 March
Agencies are increasingly recognising how difficult it can be to manage the expectations of au pairs and host families. Families are often unsure what they can realistically expect from a young adult, and au pairs may not fully understand the demands of modern family life.

In this panel, four international experts will explore where expectations tend to differ. They will examine how cultural, generational, and post-pandemic factors, as well as the influence of social media and AI, are shaping placements today. The discussion will focus on how agencies can foster a realistic understanding on both sides. The goal is for au pairs and families to better appreciate each other’s perspectives, communicate more effectively, and address emerging challenges before they become problems.
