More and more applicants and participants have been in (psychological) treatment or have health issues, but would like to participate in au pair or other cultural exchange programme. Can they be accepted and under what circumstances? Agencies see themselves in a minefield between the safety of the participant, host children, possible issues with insurances, labour laws (anti-discrimination), and fear of law suits, etc.
