Stacey Gomelsky grew up in St. Petersburg, Russia, and immigrated to the United States with her family in 1989. She currently serves as the Division Chief of the Intern, Trainee and Au Pair (ITAP) Directorate with the Office of Private Sector Designation, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) at the U.S. Department of State.

Stacey began her career at the Department in 2011 as a program officer overseeing Fulbright and other Department of State-funded academic exchange programs in the Middle East and North Africa region. In 2014 Stacey joined the office of Private Sector Exchange Designation as a program analyst on the au pair and trainee categories, as well as on U.S. embassy-funded programs.

Stacey has over twenty years of experience as a program manager with government-sponsored and privately funded international exchange programs. She has coordinated programs with other U.S. Government agencies, NGOs, and ministries of foreign governments. Before joining ECA, Stacey worked as a program manager at CRDF Global, a nonprofit organization that promotes diplomacy through international science and technology cooperation.

Throughout her personal and professional life, Stacey has lived and traveled extensively in Europe, Eurasia, Latin America, Middle East, and North Africa. She has an M.A. in International Relations, Graduate Certificate in International Health, and a B.S. in Communications. Stacey speaks fluent Russian and conversational Spanish.
